So..beginner dancer, I need soft shoes!

Hey everyone!

So, at the moment, I am a self taught dancer. I hope that this will change within the next few months if the closest dance school starts an Adult class.

Anyway, I'm in need of soft shoes! I'm quite excited, but I am having so much trouble choosing the right shoe. I've been recommended everything from Fay's to Hullachan's to Rutherford's to Antonio Pacelli's..I'm so lost!

I've heard good things about the Inishfree Aoife's, but I don't know if I should get them.

I've been told that I have a wide foot, but at the time, I was beeing fitted with Hullachan Pro's..so it may not be the same with another brand.

So..help? Please?!

if you have a wide foot, i would recommend trying fay's celtic choice. hullachans have wide ones and i tried them. unfortunately because of the wide bunion the narrow box (even if they're wide the box is quite narrow) where your toes are in makes your foot look ridiculous.

My TC recommends the Antonio pacelli gazzles as a beginner shoe. I have them and it's also the only brand I've used so I can't compare them to any other brand. They are fairly cheap compare to the hullachans which are pretty expensive.

The hullachan pros do have the option of selecting the width, so that could be a possible factor as to your foot being wide. Most soft shoes don't have the option of choosing a width. You might want to start with a simple beginner shoe like the gazzles instead of investing in a expensive shoe like the hullachans.

And also make sure you get two sizes smaller then your street shoes

forget hullachans and all rest "choices of champions", "split sole" and so on. that's not what you need.

the choice for our school - pacelli gaselle or loop (for very wide feet). actually you can choose any label you like, but the model should be alike those mentioned with sole from toe to hill (like here http://static.fastcommerce.com/content/ff808081176dde4c01177200fe98... or http://static.fastcommerce.com/content/ff808081176dde4c01177200fe98...) that will support your feet. or even simple pumps for ballet.

i've tried corrs, hullachan, pacelli and celtic creation pumps for "champions". you should stand very-very high on toes otherwise all of them are extremely uncomfortable. you'll be like that after about 2 years. before that you can even hurt your feet.

I use Antonio Pacelli, there's a great variety on the website and I've always found them to be good quality. They have shoes specifically suited to beginner dancers, and to be honest, that's all you're going to need for a while. If you have a browse on the site, you can easily get ones for wider feet. I also get my hard shoes from them and find them to be very comfortable to dance in - although I did have to buy a size larger than my normal shoe size for both soft and hard shoes, but sometimes this is more a personal preference than a necessity. You can usually find a local dance store where you can get your foot measured up so you understand the sizing. I believe there is also a section on the Antonio Pacelli website that advises on how to measure up your feet in order to buy the correct size shoes =)
