Greetings everyone! I wanted to let you know that the next issue of Feis America has gone to print and we are currently accepting ads for the Nov/Dec (holiday) issue as well as the 2 Oireachtas review issues in the first part of 2011. Our rates are at least 1/3 lower and we are the ONLY magazine by and for Irish dancers in North America. Thanks for your support.

Hi all - I am looking forward to seeing Strictly Dahmsa too. I can sympathize with the publishers - print production of anything these days is outrageous as I can attest from my own experience with Feis America. Happy Mother's Day to all!

I was quite impressed with the first issue, it's a great magazine but expensive to advertise in as well. Maybe if it takes off the prices will come down?

Hi Kathi,

I haven't seen a copy, sorry. There was a thread about it on the main ID voy board today, and the person who started it said that the website for the magazine was down so you should contact the email address posted if you want to order a subscription. That is expensive!

Has anyone in the U.S. seen a copy of the new magazine, STRICTLY DAMHSA? It's apparently published in Ireland, but I can't find a website to see if they have single issues for sale. It's also very expensive (almost $100/year for us).

haha, my girls are 15 & 18 now so if it's not on facebook it doesn't exist as far as they're concerned! Hope it takes off for you, it really does sound great x

For now Feis Faces is a US/Canada thing, only because to go beyond that I'd need to get a lot more familiar with the competition levels, marks, etc. at UK feiseanna. I know the levels are different than in the US, but I don't know more than that. So right now users only can enter US/Canadian feis information. I would love to reach out further overseas at some point, though!

The whole idea is to end up with a scrapbook without having to start a new creative habit, LOL - just enter your dancer and results info in to your Feis Faces account and order a memory book that would present that info in a beautiful, permanent way! No scrapbooking required.

Thanks! Colleen

Is this mainly a US kinda thing? I don't know of anyone here in the UK that does scrapbooking. It's possible that the An Coimissiun dancers may be a bit more likely to do this sort of thing than the dancers we come into contact with but it would be interesting to see the demographic! It does sound like a great idea, sadly my girls are too old to start a new creative habit :o(

Hi Kathi,

Thank you so much Kathi, I appreciate your encouragement! I too don't have the time for scrapbooking, which is why I came up with this idea. I'm a web developer, so I'm always thinking of ways to use the internet to make things easier. I hope this helps fulfill a need and is fun to use for dancing families.

Best of luck to Colleen with Feis Faces! What a fresh and fantastic idea this is. One of those, "Why hasn't anyone thought of using the internet for this before?" ideas. I don't have time for scrapbooking, but the idea of a website where I could track & share feis results is wonderful. I look forward to seeing the progress on the memory book idea. Bravo, Colleen!
