Up & Over It posted a text about coolness of Irish dancing! Actually, it's more about evolution of Irish dance and originality of choreography nowadays, but still, it's funny to read and has a…Continue

Hi there :) I'd like to hear what you do when the weather's just too hot for a training and you still have to dance. Do you use an air-conditioner, a fan, or just sweat and dance until you drop? I…Continue

Is there any chance that someone outside of Australia watches the series "Dancing Down Under"? I've seen the trailer, it looks great, but I've tried to watch it at the abc.net and it just won't start…Continue

Antonin said… A "real" irish dancer recently come to our school "Irish Tap & Dance", she danced in Ireland when she was younger, then she stopped and she dances again in Lyon. I spoke with her a little, and obviously, irish dance class seem to be less stricts. In fact, we dance for pleasure and feis are bonus time :-) But I don't check it in other french schools.
There are more and more beginners every years, that's great and very hopeful ! The association organized a class feis last month, it's was a very good experience. Some of us will try to perform for the open feis in Munich, I hope learning a lot next to the others dancers :-)
Anyway, in Lyon, AFIL (Franco-Irish association of Lyon) is a good way to "feel Irish spirit", and some great pubs help us !
It's awesome to see there are irish dancers everywhere, like you in Serbia. Could you tell me about irish dancing there ?
See you, I must go, I have ... an irish dancing class at 8pm !
Antonin said… Hi Biljana,
Being your friend ? Why not ! Anyway, nice page :-)
See you on Diddlyi.
Sami Rantasalo said… Well, the NSID promotes Irish Dancing, not any particular organisation (CLRG, WIDA, or any other). So in that sense, it's independent. Then again, organising a feis or anything else associated with any of the organisations and their rulings, brings that independency to a test..
The Feis is held annually in one of the Nordic countries, 2013 it will be held in Norway :) It is as far as I'm aware open, excluding the Nordic championship, to anyone willing to participate. Take this as an early invitation ;)
Sami Rantasalo said… I'm new to the ID-phenomenon in Finland and all, but as far as I know, ID has been bubbling under for atleast 10-15 years. We're in the new wave at the moment, in a sense :) There are no resident TCRGs in any Nordic countries(?) at the moment I'm afraid, but fortunately atleast in Norway there are people pretty close to becoming one :) And we have TCRGs frequenting us, ofcourse.
It's hard to say exact numbers of dancers in Finland. We're bit spread out in separate groups (which is peculiar in a country this size) and not all regard all dancers or teachers "valid". But competitive dancers or dancers under competent teachers, roughly 50 or so, I'd say. All in all, 2-3 times that.
We have Nordic Society of Irish Dancers, which is trying to keep up the network between the countries and things going. One of the activities is Nordic Feis, which we had last year October and I was part of the organizing. Do you organize feiseanna and/or school feiseanna over there? Then again, I guess you can just visit all the main-european feiseanna so easily :)
Sami Rantasalo said… Once again it has been proven that ID is everywhere (or I've been ignorant ;). I didn't know beforehand that Serbia was so into it :) Way to go!
Elias Alejandro Gadan said… We are totally agree!!
It's much more interesting to have things from that point of view :)
I spend a lot time looking for music that fits with the show, if you want we can exchange material.
Elias Alejandro Gadan said… wooow nice videos! LOVE IT! :)
