It has been awhile since I last posted. Last spring our teacher decided to quit teaching in order to have more time to dance herself. Fortunately a new school recently opened in the area and we were able to transition to the new school. The new school, Moriarty and Moffitt School of Irish Dance, was founded by two former members of Riverdance and they are extremely supportive of adult dancers. We have 12 adult dancers and we have been having so much fun learning new steps and polishing our… Continue

How is going? If you're still thinking about whether to go or not- YOU SO HAVE TO GO AND SEE! (That's if there are still some tickets left...).
I am a cast member of the show and we've been working for days and long hours and though it was very hard on everybody- it was worth it!
New set is breathtaking, costumes are WICKED and some of the choreos have been changed- you will not be bored. AND OF COURSE… Continue

The cross Atlantic flight was uneventful. We arrived in Shannon slightly disoriented, somewhat unfocused, and a little fusty as we dutifully waited in line to participate in one of life’s most exhilarating adventures:
Driving a rental car in Ireland.
The first indication that we were no longer in Kansas was the cost of “renting”.
I stood… Continue

The Feis was dwindling down to the closing competitions and everyone; volunteers, adjudicators, musicians, and dancers were looking forward to a quick finish of the day.
My daughter had just completed her prelim comp and, along with a few stalwart dancers, made a mad dash to the other end of the building for the Feis Finale, the Treble Reel.
Arriving nearly breathless, the dancers tried to explain to the stage manager between gasps they would be able to dance… Continue

So there’s Bob again, day before the Feis, manly tool grasped firmly in his hand, hanging out with the boys and building stages for the big event.
His heart suddenly begins to quiver and he clutches his chest in terror. “This is it!” he stutters, a visible panic setting in. “This is how it all ends boys, this is… this is… is… uh, my cell phone vibrating?”
“Yes dear? Yes, unh hunh, yes, aw so sorry to hear that! Of course I will! Ok, Monday, maybe Tuesday? Fine! I’ll take care… Continue

An artist, I am not. I've always known that, and envied my friends with artistic ability, but I couldn't say no to Jessica's email yesterday about needing help with set pieces and prop work and costumes (oh, my!) So it is that I'm spending a blissful few hours in Edison's art room...once I manage to find it. I'd come across it several weeks back when I explored the place in depth, but forgotten where it was. In fact, I walk right by it, and after a fruitless search, bug the lady… Continue

Eerie fingers of pale sunlight reach past dense clouds to stream through the tall, dusty windows. Low, ominous music is the only thing to be heard in the large room before a bloodcurdling scream rents the air.
No, I’m not at rehearsal. What made you think that?
It’s a dark and stormy morning here at Edison. Those windows really are big (and they really do need a good dusting. Ooh- job op!) but that ominous music was coming from the speaker of the guy next to me… Continue

As I leave my second class of the day, my cell phone buzzes. It’s Jessica, texting to announce that tomorrow night’s rehearsal is cancelled. Now I can go to the Piqua-Troy game!
