New school. New teachers. Still lots of fun.

It has been awhile since I last posted. Last spring our teacher decided to quit teaching in order to have more time to dance herself. Fortunately a new school recently opened in the area and we were able to transition to the new school. The new school, Moriarty and Moffitt School of Irish Dance, was founded by two former members of Riverdance and they are extremely supportive of adult dancers. The return of Michael Flatley as Lord of the Dance!

Hey there!

How is going? If you're still thinking about whether to go or not- YOU SO HAVE TO GO AND SEE! (That's if there are still some tickets left...).

Driving in the Land of Ire

The cross Atlantic flight was uneventful. We arrived in Shannon slightly disoriented, somewhat unfocused, and a little fusty as we dutifully waited in line to participate in one of life’s most exhilarating adventures:

Things a stage manager should never say to my daughter…

The Feis was dwindling down to the closing competitions and everyone; volunteers, adjudicators, musicians, and dancers were looking forward to a quick finish of the day.

My daughter had just completed her prelim comp and, along with a few stalwart dancers, made a mad dash to the other end of the building for the Feis Finale, the Treble Reel.

Bob the Feis Mom

So there’s Bob again, day before the Feis, manly tool grasped firmly in his hand, hanging out with the boys and building stages for the big event.

His heart suddenly begins to quiver and he clutches his chest in terror. “This is it!” he stutters, a visible panic setting in. “This is how it all ends boys, this is… this is… is… uh, my cell phone vibrating?”

Hibernian Hijinks

An artist, I am not. I've always known that, and envied my friends with artistic ability, but I couldn't say no to Jessica's email yesterday about needing help with set pieces and prop work and costumes (oh, my!) C'est La Vie (or That's Life, for you monolingual folks)

Eerie fingers of pale sunlight reach past dense clouds to stream through the tall, dusty windows. Low, ominous music is the only thing to be heard in the large room before a bloodcurdling scream rents the air.
