How do I put up a wig to the side like this? Please help!

This feis  was not one of my better feis'. I didn't place in my reel which I was so confident that I would place because I danced so well. I didn't place in my slip jig since I messed up so much. I got 4th in my treble jig! I messed up alot but I still placed plus I learned it last week! I won my hornpipe and single jig! I got 2nd in light jig. And 4th in traditional set with 40 people!

         I have to admit, I have a problem with timing in my dances. In class I have pretty good timing because of doing the same music over and over, but when it comes feis time, with new music, the judges always say "better timing",  "off timing", etc. I'm typically too fast for the music but occasionally on the reel, I tend to be slower. Do you guys have any tips on how to get timing better or even perfect?

For feis makeup I normally go in the tan/gold colors. I use a gold, sparkly eye shadow,  foundation/cover up, pale pink blush, goldish bronzer, and light-pink lipgloss. Even though I am an Adv. Beg., I have seen before where more of the championship dancers go all out with make up and it can sometimes look overwhelming on them. 

What do you guys think and what make up do you tend to wear?

Okay so normally I do not eat anything or maybe just a granola bar before a feis because it causes cramps and Oww! What I am wondering is if this is healthy or not? I do eat afterward of course but is it critical to eat before too?

So for my next feis I'm entering in the art category so I was going to paint a picture. I really want to do it of the photo below but am not sure if it qualifies as being "Irish Art" since it only has the flag.
