Diddlyi Irish Dance and Music

Novice to Prizewinner is my ultimate goal. I have performed in one feis in the and-over age group and did alright for my first time. I think I have a LOT of practicing to do to improve my form and technique, but I was just glad to get through all of my steps!

I feel like I am starting to doubt my ability to improve. I am 24 years old, will be 25 in April, and I am afraid that there might be habits that will be difficult to break and could keep me from reaching my goals. My feet sickle (pointing too hard?) and I do not always hit my shuffles on my left foot in treble reels (a bad sign for more difficult hornpipes and treble jigs). I practice as best I can, but I wish there were more drills that would help me fix these. And I also hope that with enough practice I can overcome my dancing problems.

Hope I can make it to enough feisanna this year. Plan on getting married in June!

Sickle foot is when you point and it looks like it's turning in. I'm not sure what it really looks like, because in the mirror it looks like I just point straight. I just need to get my ankle to turn out in addition to my hips.

for trebles do treble down , treble hop back alternating right and left foot  for a good drill to get those trebles good. what is sickle foot? you mean your foot bends over too much? maybe your wearing shoes that have too much flex in the sole. i'm 25 and am half way to prelim... i know how you feel it is very hard... but if you practise a lot and ask your teacher about other drills to help or other shoes, etc you can succeed :)
